Sadly Pink Satuday is on hiatus this week due to blogger issues

I am so sorry but there will be no Pink Saturday post for me today. I worked for about three hours on a darling post but for whatever reason Google blogger wasn't cooperating. Every time I would load it and look at it there was a mess on the screen that wasn't any like what I had during editing. I hold my blog to a high standard concerning design and content, so I deleted my post for today. Hopefully things will be better next week.

The new editor that they say is so good is a piece of p**pie if you ask me...sigh. Happy Pink Saturday folks, I will miss you.

♥Grandma's Creamy Bread Pudding♥ This stuff will make you swoon!

Getting a little cool outside? Are you feeling like you need a little comfort food? I've got just the medicine you have been looking for. This bread pudding recipe is the best I have ever eaten - and I mean EVER! Easy to prepare and heavenly when it hits your taste buds, this recipe will become one of those favorites you grab to make when the wind is whipping around the snow, there is a log crackling in the fireplace and the cat wants to curl up in your lap.

I have this recipe on my food blog but decided to bring it over here, too. It would be a shame for anyone to miss out on the goodness and yummy in the tummy deliciousness of this bread pudding. Easy to make and oh, so comforting to the soul. If you haven't already, take a stroll over to my food blog, Standing at the Kitchen Door. I add something new just about every day. All of the recipes have been l♥ved more than once in my kitchen by friends and family.

Ingredients
6 eggs
2 cups half-and-half
5 cups milk
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 pound loaf of raisin bread with cinnamon. Pull apart slices into about 1.5" cubes. You can also cut with a knife but if the little ones want to help this is a great job for small hands. Place bread in large mixing bowl.

Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Beat the eggs well. Add milk, half-and-half, sugar, vanilla, and mix well. Pour this mixture over the bread cubes and lightly mix.

Pour the bread mixture into a greased 9x13-inch glass baking pan and place inside large roasting pan. I use one of those large, disposal (I keep it for this purpose alone and it has lasted for years) aluminum turkey size roasters you can get at Walmart. Fill aluminum baking pan with warm water until it is about half way up the sides of the glass pan. Bake about one hour or until the top is lightly browned and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.  Remove from oven and serve warm, topped with vanilla ice cream or swimming in half and half.
This will make you swoon!

Has everyone lost their minds? What part of coo-coo is lost here?

I never intended my blog to get political in any way, shape or form. But there is a trend taking place in American politics that is getting rather silly, to say the least, and frightening to say it honestly. Do we really think that our government is going to want to "off" grandma when she isn't productive anymore. And what's more important, do we honestly believe the the people of our country would stand still for such an event?

Do we really believe that the new health bill, if enacted, would be used by one party to deny members of the other party health care? Do we honestly believe that the American people would just stand by and watch our disabled killed to save tax money?

Why do we have men who are supposed to be men of God talking about killing and wishing widowhood on our president? Is this what reasonable people do? Don't these people know that sitting in on their sermons could be folks who have mental issues and may "take up the sword" of righteousness against another human being? You call this sane? Do you call this Christian?

Come on, people. Let's put on our thinking caps and get real. All of the accusations about killing the old and imperfect going back and forth would NEVER be allowed by the citizens of this country. Happily or not, most of our political wackos are armed with more assault  weapons to stop any of the above nutty ideas with a well armed militia if our government lined grandma up next to a guy in a wheelchair and was gonna "off" them. Have we lost our minds?

I see people with a good education and what used to be a good head on their shoulders playing into all of this stupid rhetoric. And, the worst part of all of this is that people are believing the cr*p and threatening the life of our president. Good grief, what does that tell you about the people who espouse the out-and-out baloney and what kind of morality lies within their hearts?

We had a war take place (and continue) that was totally uncalled for via lies told to us by our government. As a result, many thousands of young people spilled their precious blood on the sand of a county that couldn't care less about democracy or fairness or honesty. Not once did I read that someone wanted to kill our former president and I never saw the horrendous anger I see now over health care, of all things.

I think it's time for some of us to stop drinking the Kool-Aid and for the rest of us to take a pill. This is America. This country stands on high moral ground, or at least it used to. However, some of our citizens are losing their minds, and their good judgment, and saying things that are inciting others with mental issues to do things and say things that no reasonable person would find normal.

Get a grip. Read. Educate yourself. Find out the facts. And then, and not until then, make a statement but make it nicely and earnestly and like you have a head on your shoulders, not like someone who is high on some drug or who is filled with partisan Kool-Aid.

I am talking about BOTH sides. I guess you could say that I am a Demican or maybe a Republicat. Both sides of all of these issues need to straighten up and fly right, as my mom used to say. They need to stop being politicians and become teachers, honest teachers. Don't spoon feed to us what you want us to hear so that you can do your political strutting in DC. We want the truth, simple and plain so we can make our own decisions NOT so you can make them for us.
