Soul food - Life's little blessings appear when least expected...

In keeping with my list of blessings to be thankful for I add:
  1. My worn and treasured cookbooks and recipes. Old and good friends who take me back through time when I had a family at home to cook for each night and little boys who looked forward to cookies and milk when they got home from school.
  2. Large, thick, fluffy bath towels. The kind that when you snuggle them to your face you can still smell the odor of your fabric softener nestled in their lush pile.
  3. Sugarless chewing gum. It has saved me from stuffing more into my mouth than is necessary for sustaining life and was a God-send when I quit smoking.
  4. My cell phone. A little contraption that saved me from walking in knee deep snow to call for help the last time my car didn't jump high enough to clear a mound of white flakes
  5. The magnets on my fridge. Without them the central core of my social calendar would be scattered this way and that without any order. One look at the door as I sip my morning tea and my day is planned for me with little effort

Ah yes, I can identify with all but the gum. I have never been fond of gum. Recipes and towels certainly are a comfort, while magnets and cell phones are a necessity. As for that car that doesn't jump high enough....that was too funny!

Great list! My mom had TONS of fridge magnets, so treasured, and so many, they had to be taken down. Now, she just keeps up the those that bring special memories back.
Thank you for coming by my blog! Deeply appreciate your comments, and please, do come by often. There's nothing better than new friends. Yours - the first one I visit - is awesome! Must come back on a regular basis as well. Take care!

I am also thankful for chewing gum... I go through many packs a week, and the magnets on my fridge, most of them were gifts , so I think of the person who gave each one to me when i look at them.
Blessings!
Gwen

Blessings Mimi..Awesome list and blog! Thanks for your sweet visit and words at my place so we could get to know one another!

Each of your THANKFUL descriptions are so vivid & memorable! They show a touching and loving spirit besides thankful: cookbooks, cookies & milk for your boys, fluffy softened fresh smelling towels, gum :), cell phone for emergencies in snow (for that is what they were invented for: emergencies) and precious magnets!
WOW...tells so much about you!

Many blessings as we come to know each other and be thankful. See ya' again real soon!

I love your list! I agree about the cell phone. I was in an accident and stuck in the car. I really don't want to be without one!
Hugs, Lisa

What humor, what a vision ... the day planner ... the car unable to gain on a mound of white flakes. I'm enjoying these 30 days of Thanksgiving soooo much. Thank you.
